Jack B. Moore, PhD, established the University of South Florida’s American Studies department in 1962. As a professor and researcher, Moore’s four-decade career at USF included emphases on African American studies, American literature, popular culture, photography, and baseball. This collection includes historical photographs of Tampa’s African American community from the early part of the 20th century and extensive and unpublished interviews with figures central to the 1988 trial for the alleged murder of an African American man by reported neo-Nazis Dean and Scott McKee.
